The first Predator movie is one of the essential paganism/masculinity movies for kids in my opinion.
It’s packed with suspense, action, and has zero woke mumbo-jumbo that makes modern movies unwatchable.
The main theme of the movie is how Dutch returns to a wild barbaric state and becomes the hunter after being hunted – and only then has a chance to defeat the Predator.
These are the main lessons you can discuss with your kids after watching Predator:
1. Don’t give up even in the worst situations. Become the hunter when you are hunted. Your will is what changes circumstances.
2. Act smart, use the what you have at hand (smeared in mud, Dutch became invisible to the Predator). Like Odysseus does in Troy and the Odyssey.
3. Always have several options and plan for multiple outcomes. Dutch has set up several traps for the Predator and used the second one when the first one didn’t work.
5. Attack relying on barbarism and willpower, awaken the strength you have in your blood. You are the product of thousands of generation of winners, everything you need to prevail is already in you.
Pros: everything above
Cons: could be a bit too scary and gory for smaller kids.
The Pagan Father Score: 9/10
